Born and raised in the Pocket area of Sacramento, he was the 4th generation of Portuguese immigrants. He attended John Cabrillo, Sam Brannan, and Kennedy Hi. Frank's love of mechanics began while tinkering with farm equipment on the Tash ranch. He later schooled himself and transferred his passion to foreign cars. Originally employed by Ed Jaksich BMW, he also worked for British Motors and Turner Motors. WHile at Turner Motors he was recruited by Steve Barber to join him in a business that specialized in the maintenance of Alfa Romeos. He became the heartbeat of the operation. During his 25 years at Barber's Shop, Frank developed the reputation of being an excellent mechanic and an irreplaceable friend. A favorite hobby of Frank's was making wine. Th taste of the drink was not as important to him as the time spent bottling with his dad and as sharing the "harvest" with his friends. Frank was a dedicated family man who was selfless in his commitment to provide happiness for his loved ones.

Frank brought happiness to everyone who knew him. Although I had not seen him over the years, the memories of him from our high school days make me smile! He was so much fun.

I have fond memories of Frank helping me 'tinker' with my Morris Minor that I drove to JFK.  I still have the Morris, I wish we still had Frank... Jon Merker
